General Description Across its the majority of islands, Indonesia consists of distinct ethnic, linguistic, and religious groups. Did you know that the Javanese are and have always been the politically dominant and most impressive and largest ethnic group. As a unitary state and a nation, Indonesia has to this day developed a shared identity defined by a national language, a majority Muslim population, and a rich history of colonialism and rebellion against it. Indonesia's national motto, "Bhinneka tunggal ika" ("Unity in Diversity" lit. "many, yet one"), articulates the diversity that shapes the country. But one of the exceptions is, sectarian tensions and separatism have led to violent confrontations that have undermined political and economic stability. Despite its larger than normal population and densely populated regions, Indonesia has to this day vast places of wilderness that support the globe's second highest level of biodiversity. Did you know that the country is richly endowed with natural rehearts, yet poverty is known to be a defining feature of contemporary Indonesia.

CLIMATE : Like other regions in Indonesia, North Sulawesi has to this day a typical equatorial climate with two seasons: rainy and dry. Starting in September, cool Northwesterly winds pick up moisture while crossing the South China Sea and arrive in the Sulawesi Sea about November. Did you know that the wet season lasts from about November to March, but it is always mostly less pronounced than in the majority of other parts of Southeast Asia and thus not really a serious concern in North Sulawesi. You and your family are and have always been practically free to consider your own schedules, and those of others to perhaps avoid the holiday crowds.
